Leaps and Bounds

The last few months I have been silently watching my little three year old man blossom. It seems as if time is just flying by. He is determined to be a “big boy” and a “big helper”. Of course, we allow him to be as much as possible, from helping with chores, to being able to try things he never could before, each step is a reminder of how fast time goes. My heart wants him to stop and stay my little man forever, but I know it is a part of life to watch him soar and fly.
This weekend we went with some friends to a park. We had never been to this park before. Xavier has always been so timid on playground equipment. Even though he likes parks, he is always too scared to go down the tallest slide, he is afraid to walk over the bouncing bridge, and he will never go near the monkey bars or anything that is high and has space between steps. He always tries to climb the rock walls and eventually gives up not having the patience to keep trying. This weekend my little man amazed me. He had never been on this playground equipment before. Yet he ran up the rock wall, jumped across the bouncing bridge, walked across the floating step bars all the way up to the tallest slide and slid down with the gusto of being able to conquer anything the world could throw at him. I was amazed at his strength and courage that he suddenly received. I was enthralled watching him with gusto bounding from ladders and rocks and jumping from platforms.
It is amazing to watch a once timid and shy little boy now an active, bouncing and running big boy. He ran around the playground equipment like he had done it a thousand times. It just shows that everything is conquered in time.
Special thanks to our good friend, Diana for the awesome pictures!
