Picking Strawberries

Strawberries have always been a big part of my life. As a child I loved to eat strawberries. We would always go strawberry picking every year and get buckets and buckets of strawberries. I remember, one year I ate so many strawberries that I even got a rash on my face. Luckily, nothing became of it, the doctor said I just had over dosed on strawberries for the day.

When I was pregnant with Xavier one of the big cravings that I had was for a strawberry milkshake that I made my husband get up from sleeping to go get. Xavier now loves strawberries and eats them with anything and everything. We can barely keep them in the house. I remembered the large amounts of strawberries we were able to get when I picked them with my parents and I decided to take Xavier strawberry picking.

We headed to Lewis Farms here in Wilmington, North Carolina. They have lots of berries to pick, vegetables, plants and homemade ice cream. We decided to invite some of our friends along for a crazy toddler strawberry picking, and ice cream eating day of fun.

Xavier took to strawberry picking right away. He was even going around people looking for the red strawberries and putting them in his bucket. He picked almost two buckets of strawberries himself. He also made sure that he taste tested a fair share of all the strawberries as well as put them in the bucket.

After strawberries and ice cream we headed on down to the end of the Greek festival for some delicious dinner. It was really great to eat outside and listen to the band and just enjoy the beautiful day that we were able to spend outside as a family and with our friends.

Enjoy the pictures, check out the video and remember we are still offering a free year subscription to Parents Magazine, this is the last week for this offer! I hope you have a wonderful week!
