I regularly do reviews of products on this blog. Usually on Wednesdays, (once in a while I skip to give readers a break) and I like doing reviews and in fact I like to give myself a little pride in writing them in the hopes that they will help a fellow buyer. I believe in not necessarily saying it is a great product or bad product but that you should weigh the pros and cons and see if it is a product for you. My job is to weigh the pros and cons for you so that if it is something you will not like you can save your money and not buy it.
I have to admit though when I did my review of the Ice Cream Magic I realized that I had a dilemma on my hands. For after trying the Ice Cream Magic and my husband trying the Ice Cream Magic and us even trying different things to do with the Ice Cream Magic. I have to admit there are not any pros that I can find, and as a blogger that likes to be honest with their audience this review puts me in an awkward position. However, I was taught honesty and character are important and although I stand by every product I have reviewed on here. I want to say that I do NOT recommend this product and I think it is a waste of money. I say that to you, the reader, in hopes that if you happened to consider buying it you will change your mind. I also say it to the makers of the Ice Cream Magic, you did good with an idea, but it does not pan out very well so please go back to the drawing board and come back with something even better.
If you are reading this far then you must not be totally convinced that this is a bad product. What doesn't work? Did you not do it right? Isn't it for fun anyway? So here is my review of the Ice Cream Magic.
Ice Cream's Magic's main slogan is delicious ice cream in three minutes! First of all, if you want delicious ice cream, buy some, put it in your freezer and scoop when desired. That is less then three minutes if it's in your freezer. I agreed to review this item because it did seem like a fun thing to do with kids and just a fun type game/experiment. Luckily, Xavier did not know anything about this experiment gone wrong.
When trying to make the recipe for the Ice Cream Magic you have to literally shake the container for three minutes. Do you know how long that actually is? Have you tried shaking anything for that long? It is ridiculous your arms are going to kill you if they do not fall off first.
They also advertise that it is great for kids and parties. I don't know about you, but I know that not too many kids are going to be happy to have to shake for three minutes straight and then right when their arm is about to fall off they open the lid of the Ice Cream Magic for the mere four spoonfuls of drippy goop (that is all that it makes) as it never seems to turn into solid ice cream or even soft serve ice cream. Even after several attempts. Several extra shakers and shaking time. Even one time we put it in the freezer and after being in the freezer for 30 minutes it was barely soft serve ice cream. Trust me this does not work.
|This was after three minutes of shaking.|
Even if you get it to work and your arms are still able to scoop out that four spoonfuls of ice cream, it ends up making way more mess with all the measuring spoons, ice, salt, etc. then it is worth. To top it all off the entire Ice Cream Magic is NOT dishwasher safe. It must be washed by hand.
|These are the other utensils used in order to make the recipe to put in the Ice Cream Magic.|
Needless to say after our many attempts and we were so fed up with the Ice Cream Magic, I was loading the other utensils needed to make "easy 3 minute ice cream" and realized I would have to hand wash all the parts to the Ice Cream Magic. We tried to think of things we could do with it instead, but it is made extremely cheaply so it does not even make a good cup/dish/container or even a hat. We finally just ended up throwing it out!
The next time I want delicious ice cream in three minutes I will open my freezer and get plenty of scoops of Breyers Ice Cream, because also for the cost of the Ice Cream Magic you can have two half gallon containers of Breyers Ice Cream! I hope you have all found this post informative if nothing else!
