The Shoe Line
You have read about Xavier's odd obsession with socks in my blog post, The Quirk, but now you get to read how his odd obsession with socks has now moved on to encompass shoes as well. Nick and I constantly are looking for our shoes. Not because we do not put them away. We even have nice shoe racks in our closet where for many years our shoes were neatly displayed and easy to find. That is no longer the case. Now they are all over the house. Sometimes one is in the kitchen and the other the bathroom. Or one is on the couch and the other still on the shelf in the closet. Xavier loves our shoes. We try our best to hide them from him, but he finds them. He gets them if you leave them by the door, or you hide your slippers under the bed, or you forget to close the closet door and he goes in and takes them one by one.
The other day, I was working on the computer and he was playing. I had noticed that he was playing with a couple of shoes, but it is usually Nick's slippers and my flip flops that we leave out to be able to grab if we need to go outside (that reason is slowly fading since Xavier's obsession since we can no longer "grab" them quickly). So I thought nothing of it, until after I finished my work I looked over at him and he had a giant shoe chorus line on our ottoman. All different heights, sizes and kinds of shoes just lined up. Some were pairs some were not pairs. Just hanging out on the ottoman. One of us had mistakenly left our closet door open and I did not discover it. I have no idea his obsession with shoes, socks or really feet in general but it makes for a very interesting quirk that he has. Perhaps one day he will grow up to be a podiatrist.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
