A Visit To Greenfield Lake Park

As I said yesterday in the post about us going to the Aquarium at Fort Fisher, ( see Xavier Goes To the Aquarium ) we were determined to make the most out of the beautiful weather that we had this past weekend. Nick and I love Greenfield Lake park. If you have not been there yet you should definitely go. It is a beautiful park around a lake/swamp area. You can go canoeing, kayaking, or paddle boating on the lake. They have a playground and walking/biking trails that you can go on along the lake as well. There is an abundance of natural wildlife, many different birds, ducks, and geese, as well as alligators and turtles.

We love Greenfield Lake park so much that Nick and I actually got married there in the fall. So it was only natural that we take Xavier to see how beautiful it is as well. We actually walked around the entire five mile stretch around the lake. We stopped to have a picnic halfway and just sit and watch the geese. I was excited because we even saw a bunch of Egrets which were fun to see their bright white against the gray and brown of the swamp. Xavier took in all the scenery like a sponge. He loves riding in his new stroller (see, Review: Graco LiteRider Stroller) and feeling the wind in his face. I loved watching him see the ducks and the birds taking off on the water. He would get very excited and squeal in delight.

Sometimes I really believe that the simple things in life are the best. I think that is something that many new parents really learn when they have their child. When you start seeing the world through the eyes of your little one you really start understanding just how beautiful everything is and how even the simplest of things can bring such excitement. I hope that we never loose that wonderment.
