Lullaby and Twinkle

When you have a child it is important and generally assumed that you will teach your baby the traditional rhymes, poems and lullaby s.  Thankfully with my theater background and Nick's DJ background, Xavier has no lack of music. I have managed to find many poems and rhymes in books to share with him. (Although I have  yet to find a great nursery rhyme book with the traditional rhymes in it). As far as a lullaby goes I have managed to  have a special one just for him which I have memorized and sing to him. However, once in a while I like to throw in a traditional song here and there. Unfortunately, I do not know the words. Also, some of the words I thought I knew I realized my loving mother made up as she went along. As cute as it is using the words "nana made up" I thought it would be nice to have a couple actual words to songs. I was able to find the words to Brahms Lullaby and the words to Twinkle Twinkle. Did you know Twinkle Twinkle actually has verses? Anyway, try them out on your little one see how they like them!

Traditional Lyrics
"Brahm's Lullaby"

Lullaby and good night,
with roses bestride,
with lilies bedecked
'neath baby's sweet bed.
May thou sleep, may thou rest,
may thy slumber be blest.
May thou sleep, may thou rest,
may thy slumber be blest.

Lullaby and good night,
thy mother's delight.
Bright angels around,
my darling, shall guard.
They will  guide thee from harm,
thou art safe in my arms.
They will guide thee from harm,
thou art safe in my arms.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
By Jane Taylor

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are!
Up above the world so high,
like a diamond in the sky.

When the blazing sun is gone,
when he nothing shines upon,
then you show your little light,
twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

Then the traveler in the dark
thanks you for your tiny spark.

How could he see where to go,
if you did not twinkle so?

In the dark blue sky you keep,
often through my curtains peep,
for you never shut your eye,
till the sun is in the sky.

As your bright and tiny spark
lights the traveler in the dark,
though I know not what you are,
twinkle, twinkle, little star.
